Mr. Cruise, to quote a line from a comedian - "I wish you were smarter so that you could see how dumb you are." Reading a few books, articles and/or studies about psychiatry does not qualify as knowing or having studied the history of psychiatry. It is a complex field, and requires years of dedication, education and practical experience. The same is true for the science of antidepressants. Cruise has proven once again that a little knowlege can be a dangerous thing, especially in the hands of an emotionally charged individual, accustomed to deference and with ready access to the media. Passionate dabbling is no substitute for the educational commitment and intellectual complexity needed to evaluate these issues.
